About me
Marianna Domokos is an English Language Development (ELD) educator and coordinator with experience supporting multilingual learners in grades K–12. As an English learner herself (L1 Hungarian), she brings a personal understanding of second language acquisition and the strengths and challenges students bring to the classroom. She has studied multiple languages, including English, German, Russian, Arabic, and Spanish, through formal study and self-directed learning in both Hungary and the United States, often without native-language immersion.Her work focuses on supporting English learners across proficiency levels, including newcomers and long-term English learners. She is particularly interested in the factors that influence student participation, such as cultural background, prior schooling, cognitive load, and emotional safety.Marianna designs classroom practices that build structured participation, increase student confidence, and create meaningful opportunities for language development. Her work emphasizes inclusive learning environments where students’ first languages and cultural identities are valued as assets.
