This session will focus on effectively engaging Newcomers by understanding their current levels of content knowledge and skills to support greater language acquisition. Through the lens of Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, we will demonstrate how teachers can plan for language and content growth for their Newcomers in their Integrated ELD classrooms. Participants will analyze and reflect on how strategic lesson design can support teaching and learning for their Newcomer students.
